China Launches World's First Eco-leather Trademark

The State Economic and Trade Commission and the China Light Industry League jointly launched the world's first Genuine Eco-leather Mark Wednesday, and 12 leather-manufacturing enterprises were granted the qualification.

Zhang Shuhua, deputy chairman of the China Leather Industry Association, told a press conference to launch the trademark that it is an active response from China to technical barriers set by some countries in the leather trade which will, in a way, open a green road for Chinese leather to enter the European market.

The Genuine Eco-leather Mark is a proven trademark registered by the China Leather Industry Association in the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, Zhang said.

Finished leather with this qualification not only is guaranteed to be a high or medium quality product with satisfactory after sales service, but also indicates that its content of four special ecological-related chemicals meets the Genuine Eco-leather Standard set by the China Leather Industry Association, Zhang said.
