There are 29 parties registered to run for the 16th Israeli Knesset (parliament) elections, which are scheduled on next Tuesday.

There are 29 parties registered to run for the 16th Israeli Knesset (parliament) elections, which are scheduled on next Tuesday.

The following are the parties and their leaders respectively:

Ahavat Yisrael led by Yossi Kadourie;

One Nation led by Amir Peretz;

Balad (National Democratic Assembly) led by Azmi Bishara;

Center led by David Magen;

Citizen and State by Alexander Zinker;

Hadash led by Mohammad Barakeh;

Gesher led by Eti Shiraz Asor;

Green Leaf led by Boaz Wachtel;

Green Party led by Pe'er Wisner;

Herut led by Michael Kleiner;

Labor-Meimad led by Amram Mitzna;

Flame led by Avraham Ovadia;

Leeder led by Alexander Radko;

Likud led by Ariel Sharon;

Men's Rights in Family led by Ya'akov Schlosser;

Meretz led by Yossi Sarid;

Moreshet Avot led by Yosef Ba-Gad;

National Religious Party led by Efrayim Eitam;

National Unity led by Avigdor Lieberman

Organization for Democratic Action led by Asma Agbariya

Progressive National Alliance led by Hashem Mahameed

Shas led by Eli Yishai;

Shinui led by Yosef Lapid;

Torah and Shabbat Judaism led by Ya'akov Litzman;

Tzomet led by Moshe Green;

United Arab List led by Abdel Malek Dehamshe;

Yisrael Aheret led by Boaz Nol;

Yisrael B'Aliya led by Natan Sharansky ;

Za'am - Social Justice led by Yoram Prayanti.

Recent public opinion polls published by some mainstream newspapers show that the Likud Party led by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon would win the elections with over 30 Knesset seats and become the biggest party in the 120-seat parliament.

The Labor party, Likud's rival for the elections, would get 20 Knesset seats, followed by the Shinui party and the Shas party, according to polls.
