Indonesia to Send Mission to DPRK in Bid to End Nuclear Crisis

The Indonesian government will send a mission to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)to join mediation efforts over the protracted nuclear crisis in the country, Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said Thursday.

The Indonesian government will send a mission to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)to join mediation efforts over the protracted nuclear crisis in the country, Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said Thursday.

"The Indonesian president has decided to send special delegatesto Pyongyang to halt the nuclear crisis," Wirajuda told reporters after a hearing with the Commission One of the Indonesian Congressin the parliament building.

According to the minister, the Indonesian government is currently waiting for the response of the DPRK government to the peace plan, which he refused to elaborate on.

Previously the Indonesian government has stated that Indonesia fully supports settlement of the nuclear crisis through diplomaticchannels, while affirming that the effort to end the crisis shouldbe made within the United Nations framework.
