All central government departments should focus on the major tasks set by the CPC Central Committee and the state, Vice-premier Wen Jiabao said on Friday.

Wen, also a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at the 17th Party Work Conference of Central Government departments.

In recent years, Party organizations of the central government departments at various levels had conscientiously implemented the CPC's basic theory and political line, strengthened their building ideologically, organizationally and in style of work and in system, and brought up a new situation in the government departments' Party work. As a result, a powerful organizational and political guarantee was provided for the decision-making strategy of the State Council, said Wen.

Meanwhile, he urged the party committees of central government departments to keep up their hard work and fully implement the guidelines of the 16th National Party Congress in the future.

Wen also noted that their Party work should ensure the smooth reform of China's administrative setup and organizational structure.
