Bo Xilai Elected Governor of Liaoning Province

Bo Xilai has been elected governor of northwest China's Liaoning province during the first session of the province's 10th People's Congress.

Bo Xilai has been elected governor of northwest China's Liaoning province during the first session of the province's 10th People's Congress.

Bo Xilai was born in 1949 in Shanxi, in northern China. He was first a worker, then a history graduate at Peking University. He got a masters from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1982.

Elected Mayor of Dalian, a coastal city in Liaoning, in 1993, Bo Xilai was later elected deputy governor of the province. He is now one of the members of the 16th Party Central Committee.
