The All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League of China, and the All-China Women's Federation held a workshop Tuesday to mark the eighth anniversary of President Jiang Zemin's Eight-Point Proposal on the reunification of the motherland.

Xu Xicheng, Sun Jinlong and Gu Xiulian, representing the three organizations respectively, all voiced strong support for the position of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the central government on the issue of Taiwan. They said that Jiang's proposalprovides important guidelines for the CPC to deal with the issue of Taiwan in the new historic era.

Over the past eight years, the three organizations have worked hard to promote cultural and personnel exchanges and economic cooperation across the Taiwan Straits by making effective use of non-profit organizations, according to the speakers.
