Guangzhou's GDP Exceeds 300 Billion Yuan
The gross domestic product (GDP) of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, south China, exceeded 300 billion yuan (36 billion US dollars) in 2002.

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Guangzhou, capital of

Province, south China, exceeded 300 billion yuan (36 billion US dollars) in 2002.
Guangzhou boasted the third largest city economy in the country,following
Shanghai
and
Beijing
, according to Ma Yusheng, director of the municipal statistical bureau.
Last year, the city achieved 300.169 billion yuan in GDP, up 13.2 percent over the previous year. The average per-capita GDP was 41,900 yuan (5,048 US dollars).
In 2002, Shanghai and Beijing realized 540.876 billion yuan (65billion US dollars) and 313 billion yuan (37.7 billion US dollars) in GDP respectively.
