During the Chinese New Year, many Thai businesses, from the central bank to supermarkets and shopping centers, are doing their best to see to it that the event goes smoothly, the Businessday newspaper reported Friday.

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) is to ensure that the money flows freely. This week the BoT boosted by three times the amount of cash supply to 400 billion baht so that commercial banks will have enough notes for their ATMs during the Chinese New Year.

The new year celebrations also present a chance to have fun while making money. All the big department stores are offering special promotions, with goods priced lower. Some of the most adventurous ideas are being offered by hypermarket Tesco Lotus.

On Feb. 1, chefs will bring out a 6 meters wide pan and try to cook the longest Chinese noodle seen in Thailand.

It will use 100 kilograms of noodles. Tesco Lotus' marketing senior vice president Veena Arunyakasem said that he is not sure what it will look like when it is completed, but it will be huge.
