Thailand to Enhance Economic Ties with Chongqing

Thailand will focus on trade and economic ties with Chongqing as an important partner in western China, said Adisai Bodharamik, Minister of Commerce of Thailand, during his visit here.

Thailand will focus on trade and economic ties with Chongqing as an important partner in western China, said Adisai Bodharamik, Minister of Commerce of Thailand, during his visit here.

There will be great potential for bilateral cooperation thanks to Chongqing's strong economic performance and well-developed transportation system, said the minister in a meeting with Chongqing's vice-mayor Wu Jianong on Sunday.

Wu said that Chongqing will be a major transportation hub in western China by 2010, when it becomes a junction for seven railways and eight expressways.

The municipal government encourages further overseas cooperation, said Wu.

A business delegation led by the minister is on a three-day visit here.
