Chinese Weapons Inspector's Body Returns to Beijing

The coffin carrying the remains of Chinese weapons inspector Yu Jianxing has arrived in Beijing from Baghdad via Cyprus.

The coffin carrying the remains of Chinese weapons inspector Yu Jianxing has arrived in Beijing from Baghdad via Cyprus.

More than 200 people were at the airport awaiting the return, including Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), Wang Guangya, vice- minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Yu Jianxing's family and colleagues.

Yu Jianxing, a professor of the PLA Anti-chemical Command Engineering College, died in a car accident in Iraq on March 13 on the way back to Baghdad after completing an inspection. He had taken part in several UN missions in Iraq since 1998 and made a great contribution to the work.
