The Information Office of the State Council is to publish an article Thursday in response to distortions and censures hurled on China's human rights situation by the annual human rights report issued on April 1 by the US State Department.
The 11,000-character article, "The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2002", comprises eight parts, namely, Ineffective Protection of Personal Life and Security; Serious Human Rights Violations by Law Enforcement Officials; Money-Driven Democracy; Poverty, Hunger and Homelessness; Worrisome Women and Children's Status; Deep-Rooted Racial Discrimination; Blunt Violations of Human Rights in Other Countries; and Double Standards in the Sphere of International Human Rights.
Citing a wealth of the latest cases in point, the article noted that the United States has released human rights reports from country to country and year after year, censuring the human rightssituation in other nations, but turned a blind eye to serious violations of human rights on its own soil. It will note that the double standards on human rights issues cannot but meet with strong rejection and firm opposition worldwide, leaving the United States increasingly isolated in the international community.
