The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has announced its national soccer training squad to prepare for the East Asian four-team tournament, with a striking absentee of veteran forward Hao Haidong.

The 23-member squad, announced on Monday, will gather at the Xianghe national soccer training site in Hebei province from April10 to May 4 to gear up for the tournament, which features China, Japan, South Korea and Chinese Hong Kong, from May 28 to June 3 inJapan.

While veteran Hao, the most versatile striker in the Chinese first division soccer league, failed to make the new national squad, four players have won their first cap for the national team, including Hao's teammate Li Mingyi, Zheng Bin, Wang Anzhi and Li Leilei.

The new squad reflects the intention of Dutchman head coach Arie Hann to introduce new bloods to eventually prepare for the 2006 World Cup qualifiers.

Furthermore, the roster also reveals the weakness in both the left side and the goal post as coach Hann recruits in two left-wing debutant defenders Zheng Bin and Wang Anzhi, and four goaliesare included.

The CFA did not recall any overseas players nor any member fromthe Chinese Olympic team, indicating more changes in the future for coach Hann to his eventual World Cup vying squad.

Following are the national training roster:
