China Sweep Asian Team Chess Titles

China swept the Asian team chess titles in both the men's and women's sections with crushing performances in the 9th and final round in Jodhpur, north India Wednesday.

China swept the Asian team chess titles in both the men's and women's sections with crushing performances in the 9th and final round in Jodhpur, north India Wednesday.

The Chinese men crushed Malaysia 4-0 to emerge 1.5 points aheadof the India "A" team that got the silver medal by beating Turkmenistan 3.5-0.5. The bronze medal went to India "C" that beatIran 3-1 in the final round.

In the women's event the Chinese needed just 1.5 points to win the title before the start of the round and they achieved precisely that by taking all draws against Turkmenistan.

The silver in this category went to Vietnam after they beat Malaysia while India "A" had to be content with the bronze after being held to a 1.5-1.5 draw by Kazakhstan.
