No Deaths in Earthquake in Northwest China
Thursday morning's violent earthquake that jolted the city and surrounding areas of Delingha in northwestern Qinghai Province has claimed no lives and caused no injuries, according to the local government.

The earthquake, measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale, struck the sparsely populated region at 8:48 am on Thursday.
The tremor inflicted serious damage on the homes of 45 local farmers and left over 1,000 houses cracked and broken. It also resulted in the deaths of 12 sheep.
The local government has provided 45 tents for victims. The quake did not affect heating or drinking water, officials said.
Song Ruixiang, director of the State Seismological Bureau, has left for Delingha, accompanied by Vice Governor Ma Peihua, to examine the site.
The epicenter is believed to be approximately 50 kilometers from Delingha at 37.5 degrees north and 96.8 degrees east, according to China's Seismological Forecast Network.
