UN Security Council to Take up Iraq Issues Tuesday

The UN Security Council will meet Tuesday on the situation in Iraq, a UN spokesperson said at the UN headquarters in New York Monday.

The UN Security Council will meet Tuesday on the situation in Iraq, a UN spokesperson said at the UN headquarters in New York Monday.

Briefing reporters on the 15-member council's working schedule,spokesperson Hua Jiang said the council is scheduled to hold consultations on Tuesday morning on the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission for Iraq (UNMOVIC), with a briefing by Executive Chairman Hans Blix.

According to Hua Jiang, the council also scheduled consultations in the afternoon on the "oil-for-food" program. Executive Director of the Office of the Iraq Program (OIP), Benon Sevan, will report to the council.
