The track cycling world championships will be shifted from China, the Chinese Cycling Association (CCA) said here on Tuesday.

The championships was originally scheduled from July 30 to August 3 in Shenzhen, a southern port city in China.

The decision was made by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as a precaution measure against the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), who will decide the new hosts within two weeks, the CCA said.

Meanwhile, the UCI decides to award China the hosting right of the 2007 world championships as Beijing will host the 2008 Olympic Games.
