Powell to Visit Russia Next Week
US Secretary of State Colin Powell will pay a working visit to Russia on May 14-15, Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.

US Secretary of State Colin Powell will pay a working visit to
Russia
on May 14-15, Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.
The forthcoming visit is aimed to make preparations for Russian-US top-level contacts during the celebration of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg and the G8 summit in Evian, France, according to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Various issues are expected to be discussed during the talks, including strengthening strategic stability and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, fighting against international terrorism, reinforcing cooperation in settling regional conflicts,the expansion of bilateral ties and mutually-beneficial trade, andeconomic and technological cooperation.
"Both sides proceed from the belief that the task of strengthening the foundations of partnership in relations between Russia and the
United States
is a priority for their future and predictable development, for guaranteeing security and stability in the world," Interfax quoted the statement as saying.
