The World Bank announced Thursday that Jeffrey Goldstein will replace retiring Gary Perlin to become the new chief financial officer of the bank.
Goldstein will also continue his current duties as a Managing Director of the bank.
While announcing the decision on Thursday, World Bank President James D. Wolfensohn said, "Over the past four years, he (Goldstein) has done an outstanding job as the Managing Director responsible for all aspects of the Bank's financial well-being."
Wolfensohn said the appointment of Goldstein "brings a strong sense of continuity, which is important in this vital area."
"We can rest assured that, under Jeffrey's leadership, the Bank's excellent financial standing will continue to go from strength to strength," said Wolfensohn.
The current Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank, Gary Perlin, is retiring from the Bank to return to the private sector, said the World Bank.
