Members of parliament (MPs) from Uganda and Rwanda are expected to meet in Uganda on Saturday to discuss how to strengthen existing mechanisms of resolving the conflict between the two countries, reported the New Vision newspaper to be published on Saturday.

The two-day dialogue for the MPs under the Great Lakes Parliamentary Forum on Peace (AMANI) will be held at Jinja Nile Resort in Jinja, the second largest city in Uganda.

AMANI regional chairperson Nobert Mao told a press conference on Friday that the MPs are "on the same side to pressurize out governments to invest more in peace building."

The meeting follows the London meeting between Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his Rwandese counterpart Paul Kagameon Thursday.

The two presidents agreed to investigate and resolve all outstanding complaints against each other.

Chairman of AMANI Martin Wandera said on Friday that the meeting would design mechanisms that the MPs could recommend to their governments to enable them address their respective security concerns.

He said the meeting will also discuss and recommend to both countries how they can carry out confidence building measures with a view to removing mutual suspicions.

The government, the British high commissioner and the Rwandese ambassador, and security organizations are expected to present statements at the meeting which will be opened by Uganda Parliament Speaker Edward Ssekandi.

Last ANAMI meeting was held in Kigali, Rwanda last year.
