Arab League chief Amr Moussa on Saturday condemned a series of suicide bombing attacks which rocked Morocco's Atlantic port city of Casablanca overnight.

"The Casablanca bombings were aimed at undermining Morocco's security and stability. But such attempts will not succeed in realizing their ends," Moussa said in a statement.

"The Arab League is against all forms of terrorism," Moussa said, while calling for more efforts to protect the interests, security and stability of Arab states.

Arabic-language al-Arabiya TV channel reported on Saturday that 39 people have been killed and 70 others wounded in the tragedy.

Four explosions occurred near consulates and restaurants in the downtown of Casablanca Friday night, the first major bloodshed of its kind in the kingdom in recent years.

The suicide bombing attacks came four days after a series of suicide bombings in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, which killed 34 people and wounded nearly 200 others.
