Explosion Rocks Southern Philippine City

An explosion hit Cotabato City in Maguindanao province in the southern Philippines on Sunday, but there was no reported casualties, a local television reported Monday.

An explosion hit Cotabato City in Maguindanao province in the southern Philippines on Sunday, but there was no reported casualties, a local television reported Monday.

Initial investigation showed that two unidentified men on a motorcycle hurled a bomb at a restaurant in Cotabato City. The bomb was made from a grenade and a bullet from a 16-millimeter gun,the ABS-CBN news channel quoted local police as saying.

Extortion could be the motive behind the blast at Sunday night,police added.

No one was hurt in the incident. But the explosion destroyed a car that was parked in front of the targeted restaurant.
