Sichuan's Foreign Trade Shows Steady Growth in First Four Months

Southwest China's Sichuan province recorded steady growth in foreign trade for the period from January to April this year, statistics from the provincial foreign trade department show.

Southwest China's Sichuan province recorded steady growth in foreign trade for the period from January to April this year, statistics from the provincial foreign trade department show.

During the period, Sichuan province's export volume reached 780million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent.

The aggregate value of newly-signed overseas engineering and labor export contracts hit 805 million US dollars, 2.5 times more than that of the same period in 2002.

Also during the period, Sichuan approved 63 new foreign direct investment projects, of which 38 are in the field of manufacturing.

To this end, 60.97 million US dollars in foreign capital has been deposited in bank accounts in the province, which accounts for 63.3 percent of the province's total foreign investment, said the statistics.

To date, Sichuan province has registered 42 foreign-financed enterprises since the beginning of the year, bringing the total to 3,804.
