Shanghai Cuts Landing, Route Fees for Overseas Aircraft

Shanghai Airport Authority Ltd. said Tuesday it has decided to cut landing and air route charges imposed on overseas passenger aircraft landing at the city's airports by 20 percent from May 1 to July 31.

Shanghai Airport Authority Ltd. said Tuesday it has decided to cut landing and air route charges imposed on overseas passenger aircraft landing at the city's airports by 20 percent from May 1 to July 31.

A spokesman for the authority said passenger aircraft owned byforeign airlines or Hong Kong and Macao firms would benefit from the reduction.

The authority will also lower the passenger service charges on domestic passenger aircraft by about one third from May 1 to June 30.

The reductions were approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in light of the impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) on air transport, said the spokesman.
