Seven Bangladeshi Ministers Resign

Seven ministers and state ministers Thursday tendered their resignation and the portfolios of 11 others were reshuffled in a major change in the government, a cabinet notification said.

Seven ministers and state ministers Thursday tendered their resignation and the portfolios of 11 others were reshuffled in a major change in the government, a cabinet notification said.

The seven ministers who resigned are Water Resources Minister LK Siddiqui, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sadek Hossain Khoka,Minister without portfolio Harun-or-Rashid Monno, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Redwan Ahmed, State Minister for Disaster Management Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury, State Minister for Commerce Barkatullah Bulu and State Minister for Post and Telecom Ahsanul Haque Mollah.

Bulu, however, was appointed as adviser to the Commerce Ministry with the status of a state minister.

Under the rearrangement, Agriculture Minister Motiur Rahman Nizami and Industries Minister MK Anwar swapped their portfolios.

Jute Minister Hafizuddin Ahmed got the new portfolio of the Water Resource Ministry vacated by LK Siddiqui. State Minister for Labor and Employment Lutfar Rahman Azad has been appointed as the head of the Jute Ministry.
