Nine Chinese Killed, One Missing in Algerian Earthquake

In Algeria, the death toll of the Chinese victims in Wednesday's earthquake has risen to nine. One is still missing by the press time.

In Algeria, the death toll of the Chinese victims in Wednesday's earthquake has risen to nine. One is still missing by the press time.

The Chinese victims are all from the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, or CSCEC. They were killed when their dorm in Algiers collapsed during the earthquake. The collapse also injured 10 other Chinese citizens.

In Algeria, the CSCEC has 7,000 employees working for 27 construction projects across 14 provinces. There were no other reports of Chinese victims in any other projects.
