The China Internet Network Information Centre has officially released a series of Chinese domain names.

Web surfers can visit websites by directly typing Chinese characters in the address bar of their browser.

The names recognize both simple and old Chinese characters, and can be applied in the same way as their English equivalents.

Experts say the introduction of Chinese domain names, which will help people log on the net with greater convenience, is expected to greatly boost China's internet development.
