Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will meet with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in the coming days to discuss the implementation of the roadmap peace plan, the Ha'aretz news service reported on Thursday.

Abbas would brief Sharon on the anti-terror steps taken by his government and the deployment of Palestinian security forces acrossthe territories, said the report.

The meeting would be the first for the two prime ministers following their talks with US President George W. Bush in the Jordanian port city of Aqaba on Wednesday.

Early on Thursday, Israel Radio said another meeting between high-ranking Israeli and Palestinian security officials is scheduled for next week, adding that the Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz would probably convene with his Palestinian counterpartMohammed Dahlan soon.

Although Sharon pledged to ease closure on the Palestinians, theIsraeli side decided not to lift the restrictions for the moment, saying the lift would begin as soon as the Palestinians act to foilterror attacks.

At the Aqaba summit, Abbas pledged an unequivocal end to terrorism, while Sharon promised to immediately dismantle settlement outposts, and Bush reiterated America's commitment to two states -- Palestine and Israel -- living side by side in peace and security.
