Kuwaiti Information MinisterSheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah reiterated Saturday that his country would be the last to seek normalization of ties with Israel. In response to questions on the sidelines of the first media forum which kicked off earlier in the day, the minister said Kuwaitis committed to the Arab stance in this regard that was unanimously adopted at recent Beirut and Cairo summits.

Commenting on the stance of some Gulf states on normalization of ties with Israel, he noted that "each state has its internal policy that we must respect."

As to his evaluation of the Sharm el-Sheikh and Aqaba summits last week, Sheikh Ahmad said "we are still waiting to discern the final results of these two summits and shall express our point of view in this regard according to these."

On the Palestinian cabinet chaired by Mahmoud Abbas, the minister said Kuwait congratulated Abbas on his appointment and this responsibility.

"We hope he will live up to the challenge at this critical point of time," Sheikh Ahmad said.

"A lot is still to be done because the Sharon terrorist cabinet is still giving vent to all its hostilities against the Palestinian people and doing its best to put the peace talks and the Palestinian people in the worst situation ever," the minister added.
