China to Issue Fishing Vessel Control Regulation

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao hosted a State Council meeting in Beijing Wednesday, reviewing a draft regulation on the inspection of fishing vessels.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao hosted a State Council meeting in Beijing Wednesday, reviewing a draft regulation on the inspection of fishing vessels.

The participants agreed that the compulsory inspection of fishing vessels is a common practice worldwide to ensure navigational safety and pollution control and to safeguard the lives and property of Chinese fishermen.

The regulation will be promulgated following further revisions.
