Dalian Import-export Commodity Fair to Go ahead

The 17th China Dalian import and export commodity fair will be held in Dalian, a port city in northeast China's Liaoning province, from July 21-25.

The 17th China Dalian import and export commodity fair will be held in Dalian, a port city in northeast China's Liaoning province, from July 21-25.

Hong Yuandong, assistant to the city mayor of Dalian, said the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic disease which had ravaged parts of China had been contained, making it possible to hold large economic and trade events.

The fair will coincide with the Fifth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Economic Ministers Meeting, which is also scheduled to take place July 22-24 in the same city, said Hong.

Meanwhile, Hong said, a number of expositions featuring subjects such as special rolled steel products and steel structure,rubber industry, and port machinery from other countries in the world will be held during the fair.

Approximately 500 booths had been rented out and 10 exhibition delegations from Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Thailand and Malaysia and other nations, as well as from the Hong Kong Special Administrative region had expressed their intent to attend.
