Lebanese PM's TV, Radio Station Attacked by Rockets

The building of a TV and radio station owned by Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was attacked by two rockets at dawn on Sunday, Al Shark al Awsat radio reported.

The building of a TV and radio station owned by Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was attacked by two rockets at dawn on Sunday, Al Shark al Awsat radio reported.

A fire caused by the explosions completely destroyed one of the news studios of Al Mostakbal (Future) TV station and Al Shark (Oriental) Radio. So far, no casualties were reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the event took place about 1:30 a.m. local time (2230 GMT Saturday), when a white BMW with forged number-plate stopped nearby fired two rockets at the building in AlRousha district in downtown Beirut.

Immediately after the attack, the army and security forces cordoned off the area and started investigation.

Lebanese Information Minister Michel Samaha condemned the attackand urged security bodies to intensify efforts to find out the perpetrators of this criminal act.

Samaha, who arrived at the site of the attack to assess the damage, said the government will not be intimidated by such actionsand will continue to safeguard security and stability of all nationals.
