Traffic Accident Kills 20 In Southern China

A traffic accident in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Tuesday afternoon had killed at least 20 and injured another 15 by early Wednesday.

A traffic accident in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Tuesday afternoon had killed at least 20 and injured another 15 by early Wednesday.

Preliminary investigation shows that a bus carrying 10 passengers and a mini-bus carrying 23 collided at 340 p.m. Tuesday near Tandong Village in Tengxian County, instantly killing 16 of the mini-bus passengers. A bicyclist and a motor cyclist, both of whom were following the mini-bus, were also pronounced dead at the scene.

Police sources said that one of the injured passengers died on the way to a local hospital and another died in the hospital. The other injured passengers remain hospitalized.

The regional government of Guangxi and the Tengxian government organized immediate rescue efforts to deal with the aftermath of the accident.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
