The Hong Kong Legislative Council passed Wednesday a motion to thank the Chinese central government for its support in Hong Kong's fight against SARS.

Legislative Councilor Ng Leung-sing, while proposing the motion, noted that as Hong Kong has received full support and help from the central government in controlling SARS, it's necessary for Hong Kong to express its thanks in the form of a motion.

Ng's opinion was shared by many Legislative Councilors present, who also sang the praises of the central government's donation of protective gears to Hong Kong during the latter's severe fight against SARS.

Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food Yeoh Eng-kiong, on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, thanked the Chinese central government for its support to Hong Kong at the Legislative Council.
