Chinese leader Hu Jintao has urged to make well placement of the army officers facing transference to civilian work this year.

In his instructions on the issue made public on Thursday, Hu, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese president, said that the army officers transferred to civilian work were important assets of the Party and the country, and important human resources for the country's modernization drive.

A national teleconference was held on Thursday on the placement of the army officers to be transferred this year.

In his instructions written on June 15, Hu said that well placement of transferred officers was significant for improving national defense and building of the armed forces.

The conference was told that about 42,000 army officers were expected to be transferred to civilian work later this year, and 29,000 of them will be assigned civilian jobs while the remainder prefer to find jobs for themselves.

Senior military officers and central government officials, among others, attended the teleconference.
