Employment Rate Set to Rise in SW. China Later This Year

The job market of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality was severely affected by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromes (SARS) from April to June but the situation is expected to improve later this year.

The job market of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality was severely affected by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndromes (SARS) from April to June but the situation is expected to improve later this year.

A survey carried out by the city's enterprise investigation team showed that about 41.8 percent of the 86 surveyed enterprisesfailed to employ the planned number of workers during April to June due to SARS. But all enterprises showed optimism on the city's future job market.

The survey found that as the city's SARS epidemic situation hadbeen effectively controlled, its tourism market, hotels, restaurants and transportation system would soon pick up.

More job opportunities would be created and surplus labor wouldbe utilized.
