The International Olympic Committee(IOC) on Friday praised overall progress in Turin's preparations for the 2006 Winter Olympics, but also voiced concerns about the work of venue and road construction to be completed.

A 13-member strong Coordination Commission, led by chairman Jean-Claude Killy, concluded a two-day inspection tour to Turin, Itlay on Friday.

Jean-Claude Killy, chairman of the Coordination Commission, said great progress was noted in marketing, transportation and accommodation projects, when he wrapped up the visit Friday.

"Our overriding feeling after our two days here is one of beingoptimistic and strongly encouraged by the progress," said Killy.

But the IOC said in a statement that concerns still remain on venue and road constructions.

"As mentioned in the past, concern was voiced on the enormity of the task at hand regarding the number of venue and road constructions to be completed in parallel over the coming 15 to 18months," the statement said.

"The Commission is fully confident that the organizers will be able to rise to these challenges," said Killy.
