DPRK Beats China to Win AFC Women's Championships

Defending champions the DPR Korea won the AFC women's championships after beating China 2-1 Saturday in Bangkok.

Defending champions the DPR Korea won the AFC women's championships after beating China 2-1 Saturday in Bangkok.

The DPR Koreans converted a penalty in the second half of extratime to wrap up the title.

The two teams played to a 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Earlier in the third place playoff, South Korea beat Japan 1-0 to qualify for the women's World Cup together with China and DPR Korea. Japan will play Mexico to vie another slot in the World Cup slated in the United States.
