Indian PM Lays Cornerstone for New Embassy in China

Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Monday laid the cornerstone for the new Indian Embassy in China following a speech at Beijing University this afternoon.

Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee Monday laid the cornerstone for the new Indian Embassy in China following a speech at Beijing University this afternoon.

Vajpayee said he was very glad to have the opportunity to lay the cornerstone for the new Indian Embassy in China and expressed the hope that construction will be completed within four years.

Vajpayee said he also hopes that the new embassy will play an important role in promoting friendly ties between India and China and that it will become "a home away from home" for all Indian people living in China.

The new Indian embassy in China will be built in the third diplomatic district in the northeast of Beijing.
