A total of 526 passengers were evacuated from the passenger ship "Yunfei" Wednesday when it became stuck in the ship lock of the huge Gezhouba Dam on the Yangtze River in central China's Hubei Province.

The police investigation shows that at around 8:00 a.m., the Yunfei entered the No. 3 lock of the dam, violating transportationregulations. It was soon lodged tightly between another ship, the "Chutian" and the wall of the lock. Two other ships were in the lock when the accident happened.

The local police department in charge of transportation at Three Gorges on the Yangtze River quickly dispatched evacuation teams to transport the passengers off the stranded ships.

No one was hurt thanks to the timely rescue efforts, and the lock resumed normal operation at 12:50 p.m.
