The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) unveiled a plan Thursday aimed at lifting the airline industry out if its slump.

As part of efforts to provide security guarantees to potential travelers, the CAAC will invite representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to inspect the airports in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to alleviate public concerns about security.

The CAAC also plans to expand the market through encouraging cooperation between the aviation and tourism industries.

Passenger volume has rebounded in the past three weeks. Currentpassenger volume is 50 percent of that of the same period last year.

Experts believe that, with the gradual return of consumer confidence, China's air transportation industry will see a full recovery in the fourth quarter or by next year's Spring Festival.
