Five Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested in South China

Five suspects accused of committing the biggest armed robbery this year in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong Province, have been arrested together with three guns and a large amount of cash.

Five suspects accused of committing the biggest armed robbery this year in Shenzhen city, south China's Guangdong Province, have been arrested together with three guns and a large amount of cash.

On the morning of June 16, the five allegedly broke into the house of a local underground banker surnamed Luo, shot him and another member of his family, and escaped with more than 1.6 million yuan (about 200,000 US dollars), said local police.

After police were informed that one of the suspects was due to arrive in Zhizhou city in Hunan Province on June 22, they rushed to the city and caught two of the suspects at a railway station.

The suspects allegedly confessed their crimes and police caughtanother two suspects the next day in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region also neighboring Guangdong.

The chief suspect surnamed Zheng was arrested in Baojing countyof Hunan on June 24.

The case was still under investigation.
