A Chinese-Filipino leader of a influential athletic association in the Philippines was gun down on early Tuesday morning outside his office in a sports complex in Manila.

A Chinese-Filipino leader of a influential athletic association in the Philippines was gun down on early Tuesday morning outside his office in a sports complex in Manila.

With gunshot wound in the head, Go Teng Kok, President of the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association, was rushed to a nearby hospital, and is being operated on by the press time.

Police officers here quoted witnesses as saying that unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at Go within a close distance when the latter was about to get off his van.

A separate report here quoted Go's doctors as saying that he can survive the wounds. The motive behind the ambush has yet to be established, but the police said a witness has been located who could provide vital information to investigators.
