A woman in Ningjin County, in north China's
Hebei
Province, gave birth to quadruplets Tuesday morning at a county clinic.
Yan Cuifen, the 26-year-old mother of one baby girl and three baby boys, underwent a cesarean. The babies were born in a boy-boy-girl-boy order. The heaviest infant weighed 1.5 kg and the lightest, 1.25 kg.
The quadruplets remain in intensive care due to their low birth weight, doctors said.
In China, there is an average of one case of triplets per every 6,000 births, and quadruplets are even more rare.
