Dongfeng Reports Half-year Sales of 27,396 'New Bluebird' Cars

Dongfeng Motor Co. said it sold 27,396 "New bluebird" cars in the first half of this year, continuing to rank first in terms of sales volume in the medium and high grade passenger car market for 11 consecutive months.

Dongfeng Motor Co. said it sold 27,396 "New bluebird" cars in the first half of this year, continuing to rank first in terms of sales volume in the medium and high grade passenger car market for 11 consecutive months.

The company sold 17,620 Bluebird cars in 2001 with sales revenue of 3.4 billion yuan (414 million US dollars), and sales volume grew to 41,059 in 2002 with sales revenue totaling 9.196 billion yuan (1.12 billion US dollars).

The company began to market its "New bluebird" cars last July.

The cars were produced by a subsidiary company set up by Dongfeng in partnership with Japanese carmaker Nissan.
