German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder will attend a summit of center-left government leaders in London early next week, it was announced Monday.

Hosted by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the so-called "Third Way" summit will also be attended by leaders from Poland, Sweden, Romania, Hungary, South Africa, Ethiopia, New Zealand, Chile, Brazil and Argentina.

The main themes at the two-day meeting beginning Sunday are howto promote economic growth, create jobs and make world trade more fair, a German government spokesman said.

"Third Way" is an expression adopted by Blair and like-minded to differentiate their policies from those of traditional social democrats and conservative opponents.
