A Sudanese airliner crashed early Tuesday shortly after taking off from Port Sudan airport, killing 105 passengers and 11 crew members, the Sudan News Agency reported.

Only a child survived, the report said.

The Boeing 737 was on an internal flight to the Sudanese capital Khartoum, when its captain reported trouble.

"But fate was quicker,'' the director of Sudan Airways, Ahmed Ismail Zuwary, was quoted as saying.

The plane crashed in an area near Port Sudan airport on the Red Sea, according to the report.
