Chinese Premier Extends Condolences Over Bangladeshi Ferry Disaster

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao extended condolences to his Bangladeshi counterpart, Khaleda Zia, Thursday over a ferry disaster in southern Bangladesh.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao extended condolences to his Bangladeshi counterpart, Khaleda Zia, Thursday over a ferry disaster in southern Bangladesh.

Wen mourned the dead and extended condolences to the families of the victims on behalf of the Chinese government.

About 530 people were missing and feared drowned as a ferry with about 750 passengers on board sank in the river Meghna in southern Bangladesh late Tuesday night.

Rescue workers have found only four bodies. About 220 people survived the disaster, rescue officials said.
