Tianjin Bonded Zone Becomes Int'l Logistic Center

The Tianjin Harbor Bonded Zone is emerging as a new international logistic center in north China.

The Tianjin Harbor Bonded Zone is emerging as a new international logistic center in north China.

Workers building the Volkswagen Logistic Center of Germany havesealed the roof, and the Okaya Logistic Center of Japan, the largest of its kind in China, has commenced operations.

An official from the bonded zone says eight more multinational logistic companies set up operations in the zone during the first half of this year, gradually developing the zone into an international logistics center covering all parts of China and northeast Asia.

Overseas logistic companies have brought advanced managerial concepts, technology and market channels to China, all of which have accelerated the logistic development of Tianjin.

Revenue from cargo entry and exit via the zone reached 4.78 billion US dollars in the first half of this year, up by 53 percent. The annual cargo volume handled by the zone is expected to top 10 billion US dollars.

Since China joined the World Trade Organization, the Tianjin Harbor Bonded Zone has taken full advantage of its unique function,position and preferential policies granted by the government to accelerate its logistic development.

A number of prestigious overseas and domestic logistic companies, including USA Minnesota Mining, CHR Logistics, Korea Hyundai, Samsung Imarket, Hong Kong Asia Logistics, Kerry Logistics, Changjing Logistics, Luyuan Logistics, Beiya-Bodi Logistics and Newworld-Keyun Logistics have set up offices in the bonded zone.
