Reception Marks 42nd Anniversary of Sino-DPRK Treaty

The 42nd anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was marked at an official reception Friday in Beijing.

The 42nd anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was marked at an official reception Friday.

Gu Xiulian, vice-chairwoman of the Chinese National People's Congress Standing Committee, addressed the reception, saying the two ruling parties and governments of China and the DPRK had consolidated and developed friendly bilateral ties of cooperation, while pushing forward their own socialist cause respectively.

Sino-DPRK friendship was in the basic interests of both peoples and benefited peace and stability in the region and the world at large, she said. The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government had a constant policy of development of Sino-DPRK friendly cooperation.

DPRK Ambassador to China Choe Jin Su, who hosted the reception,expressed his belief that friendly cooperative relations between the two countries would develop according to the spirit of the treaty.
