Chinese Leaders Honor Deceased Former Vice-premier

Senior Chinese leaders on Saturday paid their last respects to former Vice-premier and Defense Minister Zhang Aiping, who died on July 5 at the age of 93 in Beijing.

Senior Chinese leaders on Saturday paid their last respects to former Vice-premier and Defense Minister Zhang Aiping, who died on July 5 at the age of 93 in Beijing.

Among those present were President Hu Jintao, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC), and former president Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission.

At 9 a.m., the leaders made three bows to the body of Zhang in the hall at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in western Beijing, and expressed their condolences to relatives of Zhang.

Zhang's body was cremated later on Saturday at the cemetery.
